Question for people who got their IP4 replaced by Apple

When you went in to get your phone replaced, did they give you a new phone or refurbished replacement unit?
 
I got my first one replaced when the camera shutter wouldn't open, or the image would freeze.

They pulled a new one out of a different box that was individually sealed. It's considered refurbished, but she mentioned that it's since the iPhone 4 just came out, it's obviously new off the same manufacturing line, just reallocated for warranty replacements only.

Looked, felt, and smelt new to me. I was out the door in 15 minutes.

How'd she feel about you smelling it right there in front of her? Pretty gutsy if you ask me. Did you make eye contact with her when you inhaled?

And how long ago was this?
 
Went in on Monday to get a replacement. The woman who replaced my phone for me said that thus far replacement phones are all brand new units––no refurbished.
 
Not to mention the phone is less than 2 weeks old, and within the 14 day return period. To have your replacement be a "refurbished" phone would be a little lame...might as well return the phone outright, and get a minty new fresh one when it is available.

But, like previous poster said, I don't think they've had enough time to refurbish phones and certify it for resale...

At this point, they give you a no-box NEW service replacement. Obviously they can't give you a refurbished model b/c Gizmodo totally trashed Gray Powell's 😀
