Im not worried. There will always be a refresh on the horizon, if you consistently worry you will drive yourself crazy. Technology moves to fast to always be on the cutting edge unless you have the money to purchase new every six months.
Also, I ordered the i7, so even with a refresh, I doubt the high-end iMac will see much improvement. The 5k series Mobility GPUs are not much faster then the 4850, and except for some Steam games I already own and StarCraft II, I play all my other games on consoles. So this machine should run anything I throw at it for a few years.
I am not going to worry about it and just enjoy it :)

I just sold my 27" iMac core 2 duo to buy an i7 but I decided to wait a bit and see what the update will bring (should be before september so I can wait it out a bit)

The refresh means absoloutely nothing, I would say if you get an i7, 27 inch that is, make sure its made after February 2010, most of the issues are fixed by then.

Wow. I envy you guys-as someone mentioned not only do you receive your iMac but you get to tinker with it over a three day holiday (if you live in the USA)! How awesome is that!
Enjoy your new computer.:)

What an incredible machine. Except for some very slight backlight bleed in the top right hand corner this machine is PERFECT!!! It is not bad enough that it effects daily operations or is it distracting when displaying a black background.
Can wait for Star Craft II!!!!

I just walked out the Apple store yesterday with my first mac purchase. Picked up a 21.5" iMac for myself as my wife was getting tired of my using her Macbook all the time and my laptop just took a dump.
I couldn't be happier with the transition! It looks beautiful. The only games I play are Blizzard games, and WoW looks amazing at max'd setting with the 4670. Hopefully it'll play SCII and most importantly Diablo 3 when it releases.
Overall, I'm glad I went ahead and made the purchase instead of waiting for a refresh. Sure beats trying to use a 13" Macbook for daily use in the household.

I played sc2 in beta on a worse gpu so you will be ok, unsure on d3. I'm waiting on refresh to get a 27" can't wait

Yeah, Blizzard does a great job at putting their product in most of everybody's hands though. I'm sure they'll make it run on many platforms/specs.
Really wish I had bought this earlier when the SC2 beta was active.
