itunes 4.7 feature disabled

itunes will no longer (as of 4.7) find song names unless you imported the cd directly through itunes. try it.

"Itunes cannot get cd track names for songs that were not iported using itunes. to allow itunes to look for cd track names for this song import the song again using itunes"

this is a really lame "feature" why would they do this?
please don't give me bs about piracy, i just don't want to have to redo this operation, and some cds i do not physically possess anymore.

I didn't think that it would do this in the past. The way it looks up the song names generally only works with the CD in the drive.

it didn't work in any other version i have found, it just gave a stupid error message that didn't explain anything, took me ages to figure out moving stuff from my pc with crap id3 tags why it wouldn't work. finally figured but.
