This may vie for the top seller spot on Apple vs. the mini. Forget mini shortages, they won't be able to make these fast enough!!

Excellent parody.

Which excellent parody are you referring to, the Ashlee Simpson iPod, or Ashlee Simpson herself?

Yep... and in true Apple fashion, the ad was in circulation before the new iPod was available :D

Meant to say "pair o' parodies".

Now you've gone and made my brain hurt, a condition which no doubt afflicts both of the Simpson girls on a regular basis, but with far less provocation.

Well, at least Jessica has a nice set of pipes. How did Ashlee ever get "discovered?"

And just like an authentic Apple release, the product wasn't all it could be until we hit rev C :D

Hahahahahaha. Great line. I read something somewhere about her. She was asked who she would vote for. She said Vice President Kerry.

:D

The article was very funny, but it also hints at a feature that I'd love Apple to support - CD+G ripping/playback.

CD+G discs (aka Karaoke CDs) are audio CDs with TV-resolution graphics stored in the disc's subcodes. If your CD drive can read the subcodes, software can display the graphics in sync with the music. (Unfortunately, many drives can't read these subcodes. My DVR-104 SuperDrive can't, but my Plextor 12/10/32S CD-RW can.) The typical use for CD+G is karaoke - the discs have no vocals in the audio and lyrics in the graphics.

It would be great if iTunes could play these discs (possibly using the visualizer to display the graphics). Even better if the graphics could be ripped with the audio. Right now, there is only one Mac program compatible with OS X that comes close to this (kTunes (http://www.ktunes.net/)) and it is still unfinished.

With iTunes support for CD+G, it wouldn't be a big step to bring ripped CD+G tracks into an iPod. While nobody is going to want to sing along with graphics on a 2" screen, the video-out of the iPod Photo would make an iPod a viable alternative to the stacks of CDs/DVDs you typically need to bring with you when running a karaoke show.

The most important part is will it sell more iPod's. Karaoke seems to be quit the thing.

I'm sure that if there is truly a market for it, then they are looking at it.

I sent them an iTunes Feedback message a few months ago, requesting this feature. Hopefully, the request made its way to somebody in a position to evaluate the request and do the proper market research.
