Super-tough coating for cellphones and discs

That would be phenomenally helpful for so many things - including, germane to this forum, the iPod and iBook cases as well as all displays.
 
This has so many applications. The one it needs to be applied to first though is my iPod 😀
 
No mention of when this coating might be used in future CDs/DVDs, only the mention of BluRay in 2k5. Will it ever be used on older technology?
