I just received a notice when I went to pick up my daughter at preschool regarding enrollment for next year. At the bottom was this disclaimer:
Admission to ******** Preschool is open to any child between the ages of 2.9 years to 5 years, regardless of race, religion, cultural heritage, political beliefs, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation or disability.
I'm happy that they don't discriminate. However, I doubt that many children that age - even the mature 5 year olds - have well-formed political views, are aware of their sexual orientation, or have been married. However, if my daughter comes home with a 4 year old gay divorced communist, I'll be supportive of both her choice in friends and the school for its policy.
FYI: "2.9" means "2 years and nine months" in preschool parlance.....
