I've got an original single 1.8 G5...

Is the extra internal HD slot just a standard 3.5" IDE, so any drive will work? Is the cable for the 2nd HD already in there?

It has to be a 3.5in SATA drive, and ATA drive will not work in the G5, and yes the cable is already there. Installation is simple, just follow the instructions that came with your mac.
