P.S. now you can save the $9.50 you would've spent to see the Incredibles.

Are you Kidding me?

Lets see, its got the birth of Vader, Chewbacca, the Emperor wielding a red light saber, battling attack ships over Corescant.

It starts out with some shots/voice over from the old obi-wan but that is a good segway.

Hell yeah, Brad Bird is an animation god and Pixar believe in story over cheap theatrics. Blame Disney for the crap tie-ins but the film itself will be fantastic. Go see a great film like The Incredibles, and consider the EpIII teaser as just another trailer you might catch ... which is just what it is after having seen it.

The only decent thing that came out of eps I and II was the John Williams score. The plot for this one can't exactly be challanging since everyone knows both Obi & Annekin survive the fight scenes of the big crunch battle, so you can hardly get drawn into it. Chewi, the stormtroopers and full grown Boba Fett are just gonna be like nostalgic gap-fillers.

I'm pretty sure it won't go the way of the dreadful Matrix trilogy, but ep III is going have to be pretty damn amazing to get me into a state of above average excitement ... and this trailer just didn't do it for me. :(

Definitely planning to see The Incredibles no matter what.

BUT

That trailer just sent chills down my spine. I admit, I really didn't like Episodes 1 & 2 as much as the original trilogy. However, I also barely comprehended the trailers for these two films as well (trade war, Gungans, what? Darth Maul, politics, politics, politics, oh wait, I see clones!). This trailer seems much more to the point, and hopefully Episode 3 will be as well.

Keeping my fingers crossed!

Maybe they should rename it EPISODE 3 - THE LAST HOPE

Because its our last chance for Lucas to get it right.

That trailer looks promising, but trailers with cuts every half second can make anything look good and exciting.

That's exactly what I was thinking - and even like the name from #5, it shares the similarities of a darker evil getting the better of the light side of the force :D

Should be a good ride

I might be in the minority here, but I walked out of both Episodes 1 and 2 feeling entertained and thinking that the movie I just watched was actually pretty good. The Star Wars prequels really aren't as bad as people think, I think mostly it is 30 somethings that feel that Lucas has robbed them of thier youth by making "monstrosoties" like eps 1 and 2. Really the Star Wars prequals aren't as bad as people make them out to be, the Matrix on the other hand . . . I actually walked out of Matrix Revolutions, I thought it sucked that bad.

Can't wait for Revenge of the Sith

Episodes I and II seemed to be more for kids. As the storyline progresses it seems to be getting a lot more adult. Hopefully this is the case with the third installment.

For 7,8 and 9, I hope that they will be at the most mature level, and that there the conclusion ties together the follies of the Empire versus what I hope will be the triumph of the Rebel Forces.

Either that, or they could really suck.

But maybe Lucas had something in mind when he originally imagined the Star Wars series in that it would get progressively more serious until the end of the movie.

Kinda like the Harry Potter series.

Agreed, while I enjoyed the first two, I don't have them in any decent format, Episode I on VHS, and Episode II in full-screen DVD. I think I'll wait until the boxed set comes out to get them. Then it can sit next to the Origianl Trilogy boxed set!

It's been mentioned by many on the production team, and even Lucas that Episode III might get a PG-13 rating.

Sorry to break it to you, but Lucas is not, and never was even considering making more after this trilogy. Doesn't mean that no one else will take over though.

But maybe Lucas had something in mind when he originally imagined the Star Wars series in that it would get progressively more serious until the end of the movie.

The original trilogy is one story, the ultimate story, one that tells the great human traditional myth. That is why the movies are so awesome. The original trilogy is only connected because it occurs in the same universe with some of the same characters. The original trilogy can never be as good as the original because it does not have that deep mythological background that has driven storytellers for hundreds and hundreds of years.

yes, you are dead on, Lucas wrote the Original episodes after much consultation and reading of Joseph Campbell's A Hero With A 1000 Faces, the writer was also a good frend of Lucas' and help him created the basic story, and i believe that book is what helped the original three be as good as they are, plus they are classics now, which always seem better than the stuff made today

I saw the trailer by logging onto my friend's AOL Screen name. It doesn't have any watermarks but is very slightly darker (color-wise) than the ones from the Star Wars and Hyperspace site. I'm hosting mine on .Mac - if anyone cares to see it - http://homepage.mac.com/ibook238/.Movies/episodeIII.mov

This looks real good, I hope it turns out better than the previous ones, Episode III looks like it's going to kick ass.

Looks interesting.

Ooh whee! get a load of those Wookiees! Even though there's only a couple of glimpses of them, they were the best part of the trailer for me.

I know lots of people detest George Lucas' penchant for revisionism - I've got mixed feelings on it myself. But if he wants to go back and replace all the Ewoks in Return of the Jedi with Wookiees (his original idea when making the film), I wouldn't mind. Nosiree Bob.

Is this the last series "Lucas" is going to be involved with, or the last series period?

Cause, I know a lot of people who would be really happy to know that Lucas is handing the reins to someone else.

He could bring in a new Director or collaborate or something, he definately needs to step aside though and bring in a more gifted storyteller.

There is no reason that he could not get some other involved in that process again. I nominate Peter Jackson and the lady (excuse me for forgetting her name) who helped him write the LOTR trilogy. The amount of negative feedback he has been getting shouldn't deter him, the last series could be a triumph in both the technical and story telling aspects.

Years and years ago he did say it would be cool to do that. Not that he would make them, but that it might be cool.

About two months ago a rumor was being spread that a bunch of people had been asked to sign NDAs regarding any mention of episodes 7 8 9. And here (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=6318) is a story with audio of Mark Hamill saying he was offered the job for episode 9 back in 1976. :D

i just wish Lucas would go back and re-read that book! and i wish he would get someone else involved, it helps the creative process (from a writing point especaillay) but alas, i think that his ego has grown too big for that to happen, and that i think is also part of the problem, but is anyone is interested in storytelling and myths, look up that book, A Hero With a 1000 Faces, very interesting read indeed

Well, I thought that both Ep I and Ep II were awesome when I saw them. However, Ep I was more due to the fact that it had been so long since we had any new Star Wars movies. It wasn't bad, just wasn't as great as I thought at the time. Ep II, however, I actually liked quite a bit and still do. They still don't rank with the original trilogy of course, but the new one appears to hold the promise of being able to do so. I can't wait, I am pumped :D

Of course, I am sure that no one here has been able to figure out that I am a Star Wars fan or anything over the course of the time that I have been a member. :p

Cool thing about this move is that is will be sad all around-

Yoda loses and is one of the last remaining Jedi, as is Obi-Wan--who both turn to seclusion

Anakin is seduced and turns uber-evil

Padme dies

All jedi but Yoda and ObiWan die

THAT ROCKS!

Lucas has lost his mind and creative spirit. His stories are now uninspired, the acting is fluff to support effects. Ep. 1 & 2 were worthless drivel. There's quotes from Ewan McGregor stating that during filming, while he was trying to say his lines someone was talking on a cell phone - who was it? George Lucas talking to his financial advisor about selling stocks... during filming! The man does need to get back to his roots but realistically he's too far removed from those days for that to be possible.

Ewoks??? ff-inn ewoks - that's when it all started to go downhill - pandering to children to boost box office returns - just like Spielberg did by putting in a little kid sidekick for Indy in Temple of Doom. For shame.

Seriously though, J.R.R. Tolkein wrote the book. I was referring to the screenplay. If you have read the book and watched the movies you'll know that it needed to be adapted. I could look up her name but I can't be bothered. I know she is his partner if not technically his wife and very good at what she does.

To see the Emperor with a red light saber fighting Yoda is going to be worth it for me. The dialog between them will probably be as good as the fight scene.

Too bad Yoda and that Ben didn't think about caring for the Jedi twins separately and train them as Jedi from birth. Yoda said that Luke was too old to complete the training but who's fault was that?

It could be worse, he could be saying "meesa liken the shiny hat!"

Unfortunately, both of these scenes couldn't be included in the film due to the limitations of current technology. Lucas, though, really intended for these scenes to be in the original version of the third prequel, and he'll add them 10 years from now, when technology finally allows him to realize his vision.

Oh, and then the doctored version will be the only one available on HD-DVD.

I think watching them in chronological order for the first time would be interesting. I doubt that they can stitch them together seamlessly though. I think you will find the the last 3 to be strange after the special effects of the first 3, and that would be weird.

It will be interesting to see how evil triumphs and sets the stage for episode IV. Not your typical scenario for an ending. That alone will make episode III different. I and II were doomed to high expectations, but they were OK. (except for Jar Jar).
