App to trim AAC?

I am looking for a freeware/shareware app to trim AAC files. Specifically, I ripped a CD using iTunes at 192kbps AAC and some of the tracks have a brief introduction. I would like to separate the introduction from the music into two separate files.

I couldn't find anything on www.versiontracker.com... anyone have a recommendation?

I don't seem to have SoundStudio (I am running Panther on a iMac G5) but I found it on VersionTracker. I'll give it a shot.

UPDATE: i just verified that yes indeed quicktime pro can trim an aac file. only the pro version mind you.

Sound studio will only appear in your application folder if u didnt do a clean install of ur system when u got it or if you used the restore software cd that came with your hardware. Retail versions of panther and Jag didnt come with it.

Thanks Damson. I did do a clean install on my iMac G5 which explains why I don't have it in my Apps folder. However, I also did not find it on my re-install CDs when choosing the Custom option.

I ended up using iTunes to modify the start/stop times to trim the AAC file.

FWIW SoundStudio is pretty good for putting fadeouts or -ins into audio files too, like if you have a song that you want to drop into a mix that has clapping or something at the beginning or end, that cannot be trimmed easily with the start/stop times. I usually use the latter but once or twice I've made mix-friendly versions of songs with SoundStudio.

I may be wrong, but can't iTunes trim files? just go into info of a song >> start/ stop time... then re-encode it.

Yep, this is exactly right. I've done this a number of times to remove commentary or applause from the beginning of live tracks.

Just set a start time or end time, and re-rip. If you'd rather not re-rip, just set the start time. Every time you play that track in either iTunes or on an iPod, it'll automatically start playing at the point you've designated. If you ever change your mind, just set the start time back to 0:00 and you're good.

Yeah, this works for a lot of stuff. There are some songs though where you need to do more because of the way the song transitions into or out of the speech or applause or whatever, when it isn't a clean transition...
