Who do they think they are using Apple's background on their monitor ads?

What would you rather see, Apple's blue screen or XP's garish desktops?! ;) :p

I've been noticing that for many monthes. The minute I noticed it on the ad of PC magazine I rushed to my (mac) friend and said, they stole from apple! It's been on it ever since they released that monitor. Shameful huh.

MONTHS? Try years. PC companies have been doing this for a LONG time.

I think someone in a post long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away had a great point that might explain this. Essentially, when companies have prepress houses make up their images, they will often ask them to throw in a random desktop image into a monitor so that it isn't just blank. The kicker is that most, if not all, of these shops use Macs, so it's just easier for them to grab a Mac screenshot than one from a PC. That's why many PC shots actually have OS X-looking screens.

A few years ago I noticed a PC mag that had a keyboard on the cover. Upon closer inspection, it was a mac keyboard, with the apple on the "command" key cleverly hidden behind the UPC (Well almost, the top was still showing).

I thought it quite interesting.

I've been using the blue Apple desktop, find it to be appealing.

You constantly get the Apple laptop with the Apple logo covered up on the telly and in adverts but I've actually seen Apple laptops with superimposed XP screens before in adverts...now that is wrong! :)

It's always kind of amusing to me that no one checks for that kind of consistency.

At least they know what is going on.
