Looks like a lot of people are returning these with problems if they have so many in stock to be sold as refubs.

Anyway, the prices are all $200 off, so some of you might find this a pleasant deal

Thanks for that. I was thinking about a nice new shiny G5.

But come to think of it, your news doesnt exactly give me confidence about the iMac.

Maybe I will just have to wait longer and see how it pans out.

Bet ya anything it's due to the numerous problems with some of the power supplies, midplanes, etc (the infamous buzz/whine).

I've been dealing with Apple for 2 months now trying to get mine fixed with no luck.

Hopefully the refurbs are good to go. I wonder why, if they fixed the problem in enough machines to refurb, why so much trouble fixing mine? (if the refurbs had the same problem, that is)

What's saying they fixed it? Seriously.

I delt with four Product Specialists and two of them swore that my whine was "normal operating sound." I had to take it in to two different stores and one tech it sounded "normal" and the other said I had a bad fan. Swapping out the midplane didn't change the noise.

So whomever buys my old unit can perhaps be dealing with the same noise that was driving me crazy. That's why I abandoned the iMac entirely for the PM; there was a pretty good chance that any replacement was going to have the same problems.
