Does anyone listen to music before they go to bed? What kimds do you try and listen to ? Classical? If so, what kinds?
I listen to music while falling asleep. I try and listen to mellow stuff, nothing too "loud".
I also have some white noise recordings that i use whenever i have trouble sleeping. Haven't needed those for a while thankfully :)

Anything that I always listen to, all of my instrumental stuff. Instrumental > lyrics .

I can particularly recommend the works of Brian Eno (and collaborators):
• Discreet Music
• Ambient 1: Music for Airports
• Ambient 2: The Plateaux of Mirrors (with Harold Budd)
• Ambient 3: Day of Radiance
• Ambient 4: On Land
• Thursday Afternoon
• Neroli
• Apollo: Atmospheres & Soundtracks
• The Pearl (with Harold Budd)
• Spinner (with Jah Wobble)
The ultimate in background music. No need for Mogadon...

before bed? are you kidding...i would never fall asleep ;)
i do read stuff and that works pretty well to make me fall asleep
i used to be able to sleep with hard rock music on...but that was when i was younger...much younger...scorpions, original kiss, etc...my younger friend, who is in his 30s now, used to fall asleep to early metallica, anthrax, megadeth and other similar easy listening music and his mom was freaked out...devil worship and subliminal messages and all ;)

Isn't that what this thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=95712) is about?
Wish I could listen, but the wifey wants the 'noise box' on
When I was young, I would fall asleep to the radio listening to WQXI radio, playing the top ten rock and roll of the day (60's)

I like to listen to Techno (and all it's variants), or Jazz/Blues before bed.
I find it really really calming and peaceful.

I love listening to music or watching tv before going to bed. If I'm asleep, usually my dreams are based on whatever I'm listening to.
Personally, I do like mellow, mostly instrumental stuff. Stuff like the 70's minimalist/synth-"punk" band Suicide, some Spacemen3/Spiritualized/Spectrum, My Bloody Valentine, Tones on Tail... the list goes on.

when I listen to music before bed, Its usually the latest thing Ive downloaded/bought. But, when I need a bit of relaxation before bed, I find there is nothing like switching on NPR and listening to whatever classical they have playing.

I listen to music 24/7. While asleep. It's chillout all the way.

I listen to a track of ocean waves. It's a CD, but I ripped to my laptop and play it through the home stereo system. When I travel, I just listen to it from the PB speakers. It's mainly to cover up other noise, like the dogs snoring or people in the hotel hallway.
