Build to order UK Quad 8 days?

First time I've seen them take this long - strange number?

If you are customizing it then that's pretty normal...

Remember, they have to get all those individual bits you've chosen that arent part of normal spec. If its something that isn't very popular, they probably keep very few of them ready, so have to order parts in.

EDIT: Ok,sorry - see what you mean now. If you pick ANY non-standard item on the 4 or 8 core model it changes to 8 days. Its usually 3 days for processors (I was looking last week).

EDIT 2: Could be a bug. Even picking a mini-display port adapter changes it to 8 days.

That just seemed odd. 2-3 or even 5 days. But 8?
To me that suggests they only have standard units in stock - boxed up
or its a bug in the site

Keep in mind that that is ships in, it doesn't mean that it will take the whole 8 days, it might ship in 4 days

On the U.S. side:

Change to any component (add HD, VGA adapter...)
2-4 days

Add ATI 4870 Card
3-5 days

Add 32 GB Memory
4-6 days

Seems to corroborate that anything added requires diving into a stocked box for modification.

Yeah the UK store is usually 3 - 5 . I can confirm this as I've been pricing up a Mac Pro for the last month or so and its never been 8 days for me.

Hopefully a sign of good things to come!

Not sure how to read this, but its back to 3 days.

This either means:

- Someone screwed up the dates
- They were out of stock of everything today (unlikely?)
- Something changed - new release tomorrow??
- Some other wierdness?

Seems to be UK only. It's 2-4 days in US store and 3 days in Finland store
