Homeade camera kit / usb, will it work?

Is it possible to use the 30 pin to usb supplied with the ipad and a usb female to female adapter and use my usb card reader. I dont have a usb female to female to try this. Anyone try this?

No. I tried it an it didn't work.
I later read there are resistors on certain pins so I decided to buy the kit.
