iPod touch Podcast access difficulty

Hello,

I just bought an ipod touch, it has software v. 4.0

I uploaded my podcasts onto the ipod, and every time I try to access them, I get returned to the homescreen. I'm kind of new to all of this, so any help is appreciated. Thanks,
