I have an older G5 imac that is running tiger i am looking to make some serious upgrades to both software and hardware. BC it is a G5 i know i can only upgrade the os to 10.5.x but i would like to install a bigger hard drive can i just use a Leopard disc to install to os on a blank hard drive or do i need to have a copy of tiger on the new hard drive

Thanks in advance

If it's a blank drive you can install Leopard directly from a Leopard retail disc.

Hi,

Dont' forget to format the hdd using Disk Utility. You want OS Extended (journaled) I believe.
