As originally noted by MacTeens.com (http://www.macteens.com):
Errol Morris's website (http://www.errolmorris.com/) contains an unseen Apple Switch commercial (http://www.errolmorris.com/commercials.php?commercial_id=7)
The ad appears to feature DJ Qbert (http://www.djqbert.com/), who appears to be a well-known "turntablist" (QT clip (http://www.beatthief.com/four/media/qbert.html)).
Errol Morris is the director (http://us.imdb.com/Name?Morris,+Errol) who shot Apple's Switch ads. There are reports that there are a number of celebrity ads are coming soon (possibly coinciding with Jaguar's release).
Other known celebrities to be featured include Eric Koston (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2002/08/20020811231631.shtml), Ben Folds (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2002/06/20020628102240.shtml) and Harry Knowles (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2002/05/20020507222255.shtml). Others mentioned (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2002/05/20020508225804.shtml) include "Lou Reed, Spike Lee, Béla Fleck, the CEO of Phat Records, and a bunch of Grammy artists".
Damon Wright (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2002/06/20020619030946.shtml) had confirmed that these Celebrity ads would be the next round in Apple's new ad campaign.

very cool. I'm excited.
kind of reminds of the Gap ads where you had random celebrities dressed in Gap blue jeans and white t-shirts just hanging out against a white backdrop.

i dont like it. seems like it will alienate a lot of people. It makes a mac look like a toy. It might have worked with a more recognizeable face.

What's interesting is that Apple seems to be targeting a lot of niche celelbrities..
It's like the skateboarder... people into skateboarding really know who he is... and the same for this guy (DJ Qbert).
I think it's great. It really would get the attention of their fans or those in who are familiar with these niches.

I think the new ads gonna try and reach into the next generation of people.... roughly Generation X-Y. Think about who's been buying a lot of the ipods lately... That and if you start them up with Mac...they'll stick with Mac.
I know a lot of people here don't listen to hip hop but DJ QBert's well known in the hip hop industry

Completely on the button arn, Apple is obviously targeting niche markets, due to them relating owning a mac with "cool" niche markets.
BTW Q-Bert is seriously a sick Turntablist, The invisible Skratch Pikilz were banned form the DMC's(DJ competition) because they were TOO good at it.
Q-Bert is the cream of the crop...as is Koston form the world of skating.

Surely that's not a coincidence, as isn't the Chairman, CEO or something of Gap on the Apple Board of directors?

Haha, Britney Spears is too busy to be doing an Apple Ad! Although, if you did hear about Britney in an Ad, maybe you got it from here (http://www.oliverwillis.com/archives/002432.php) ??
Well, :p It would be cool for her in an Ad, if she was naked!!!

Should Apple be celebrating the man who was able to stuff the most animated ads, pop-ups, and pop unders on his webpage?

I think Apple just found their "key" into the hip-hop community. I've been listening to underground hip-hop for about 4 years now and Q-bert is the unanimous best DJ in the universe. He's definitely one for the think different campaign. Q-bert revolutionized turntablism.
On a side note, why haven't i seen will ferrel's switch ad on tv?

I'm guessing because he says both "poop" and "porn actor". Apple has enough sense of humor to show it off at a trade show, but it's never gonna show on tv. It's not even on their web site. It would alientate a lot of people...

Only Apple would be cool enough to get a wicked Dj to promote their products... I think they have the right idea with the celbs they are picking. They are known, but not well known. Qbert is perfect, I cant imagine a more well known dj like Oakenfold (bleeeech) promoting apple products. Has anyone seen the independent documentary called "Scratch"? Its a great movie on turntablism... check it!

Ohhh man and bela fleck!?!?! Wicked.. hahaha.... has anyone seen bela fleck and the flecktones live? I have a video of them live at the Maryland Jazz festival, they are insaine. They have this drummer, who uses this tricked out drum machine that he wears, and he uses his fingers to keep beats its really a unique way to keep the groove, I think he calls himself "Future Man".. anyone know who im talkin about?

Qbert advertisement is all out of audio sync, and the video is not what Apple would publish. I sure hope someone gets rid of those blurry lines in the video before Apple publishes it for good.

They should get someone who is well known only to hip/cool/in the know kinda people. Someone who scores high as a search term and has had a lot of fan sites that have just launched. Someone not really talented or accomplished, just an "it" person. Someone with "I kiss all your base" appeal. I know just the person...how about Ellen Feiss?
"It was really good paper" - hehehe

Yeah... and "Phat Records" is very probably "Fat Wreck Chords"; hope they have Fat Mike in the ad.

that dude is off the chains! have you ever seen is website? i can't remember the link...damn. anyway, he's still doing his own solo stuff using the most insane gadgets. and speaking of Flecktones, Victor Wooten's solo bass stuff is amazing as well. i produce a lot of electronic music and i've dove deep into my Flecktones collection for some seriously dope samples many a time. shhhh.
