world of warcraft is awesome and really if you start playing it you will get hooked and wouldn't need any other game. It gets released on November 23rd. I don't think it has joystick support. It will play on your machine for sure as it plays great on my 12" ibook

Not sure if your a first person shooter player. And not sure if it'll run well on you computer... But you can download the demo at macgamefiles.com. Also, if you buy this game your basically buying a dozen. There are many great mods for unreal tournament 2004. Try red orchestra at redorchestramod.com. It is by far the best eastern front world war II game in my opinion.

My current top five would be:
5) Battlefield 1942
4) Warcraft III
3) Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic
2) Unreal Tournament 2004
1) Call of Duty
If you can find the ROMs MacMAME is fantastic too.
The games I am currently hanging out for are World of Warcraft, and Call of Duty United Offensive. None of the games I mention need a joystick.
* Disclaimer: I've got really bad taste in games, so don't flame me!

Diablo II is classic, never gets old (for me at least) ive taken a looong break from it, and i think i lost all my characters, i just might start up again tonight for the hell of it, be weird starting from scratch again
anyways, i liked Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Diablo II obviously
Warcraft is good (not my style of graphics/gameplay personally though)
another classic thats always fun is Quake III

StarCraft is the BEST game ever.
Max Payne is good.
Deus Ex I loved.
Only get Diablo II if you want a serious addiction.
World of Warcraft is overrated.
Warcraft III is overrated.
Call of Duty is awesome.

Sim City 4.
Also been playing a lot of UT2004, just because. Call of Duty is awesome, but I play it on my PC - Powerbook's just a little choppy. Same with Battlefield 1942.
Of note, though, is that there are no (or at least none I've found) decent racing games available. I've played through Total Immersion Racing, but the only thing that made that fun was the fact that with the truly awful keyboard control on, the game had a decent difficuly level... F1:2000 is alright, might give that a chance again sometime, but otherwise? *shrug*

Carmageddon and Carmageddon II were really fun racing games...well...I dunno if you can call them 'racing' per se... :p

Here are some goods ones:
Age of Empires II (classic game for mac, very popular very fun)
Halo (fun game, but I'll warn you now, choppy and a pain to run)
Age of Mythology (if you like building empires with some monsters and god powers then this is your game)
Call of Duty (probaly the best WWII shooter on the market.)
Medal of Honor: Allied Assault (not very realistic considering it's a WWII game, but still some good shooting fun)
Here are some things coming to the mac that look nice:
Doom 3 (your machine won't run it though)
Call of Duty: United Offensive (if you like Call of Duty, then take a look at the expansion)

what are everyone's opinion's on Rise of Nations? Do you think it's worth buying?

Rise of Nations is the best RTS game out there. When it comes out for the Mac, you should get it if you like RTS games.
In the meantime, Age of Empires II is the currently best RTS on the Mac; some may opt for Warcraft III or Command & Conquer: Generals, but the former is all 'magic & spells' and the latter has a very cumbersome user interface. You may like Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds, but it's pretty much a clone of AoE II.
Railroad Tycoon III is out for Mac now too. I greatly enjoyed RRT2; I have the PC version of RRT3 but haven't played it much yet. These games probably fall into the RTS category too.

I love these threads:
1) MOHAA (and all the sequences)
2) COD (can't wait for United Offensive)
3) Nascar Racing 2003 (get a FF wheel though)
4) Tiger Woods 2003
5) Return to Castle Wolfesntein
(BattleField 1942 is also a gr8 favorite....)

1) Ghost Recon: Most replay value of any game I've ever owned. Great Performace.
2) Call of Duty: Most intense/fun game on the Mac. Amazing graphics. Amazing Performance.
3) Rainbox Six 3: Usage of the Brain required. Great Performance.
4) Halo: Fun. Brain not required. (Lousy performance +Harware intensive)
5) Splinter Cell: (Based on Reviews, I've yet to get it)
Of courese this is my call on the types of games I Like. Many others enjoy some of the adventure/rollplaying games alot.

My favorites...
#1 Call of Duty. (Who can say no?)
#2 Unreal Tournament 2004 (Well Duh, there's always a new Mod, a New
Map, a new idea, fun!)
#3 Age of Empires II (Old but still fun!)
#4 Homeworld 2 (A little complicated, but always rewarding)
#5 Escape Velocity Nova. (Only Single player missions but still very fun)
