View Full Version : I cant restart or shut down

My MP wouldn't shut down or restart.

Brought up force quit and noticed finder is not responding. I tried relaunching but it never relaunched. This has happened before, a few times.

There is no dock, or spotlight, I tried restarting from the apple and from settings neither work.

What can I do at this point other than doing a hard reboot? Luckily I had firefox open to ask for help.

At this point I'd just perform a hard reboot. There's not much else you can do.

Thats what I usually do. I regularly repair permissions if needed

what can i do to make sure this doesnt happen in the future?

How often has it happened? Every few weeks, few months?

Maybe once a week or once every two weeks

I'd try booting from the Mac OS X install disk and then opening Disk Utility and performing a repair disk.
