Forgive me as I can't remember where I saw it...I'm looking for a stand for an iphone 4. It doesnt have to be able to charge in it, just to sit in it on a nightstand. It had a back on it so iphone couldnt be knocked off...

Thanks

You could try buying a case that has a built in stand that comes out of the back of the case.

Hello,

No need to go buy an expensive dock. Just get yourself some hard construction paper or high gloss thick paper and make yourself one. I did.

Here's how mine looks like:

Note that I had done minor tweak to my stand to strengthen its support. See below for details on that.

Here is where I got the design from:
http://www.dessinemoiunobjet.com/iphone-and-itouch-paper-stand-dock/

There's a video after all the photos.

If you look at the photos on that site, you will notice that there is a missing bracing connection in image #4 down the page. In my first photo, you can see it holding the back support to the center of the structure. This is the mod. It's simple really. The original design tells u to cut away the strips. I simply keep these strips and make them into bracing connections.

Here's the diagram of the fix you can draw on your print out:

TIP: Print out diagram onto a regular printing paper. Then tape the design onto your hard construction paper and then use an x-acto knife to trace the lines to be cut.
TIP2: Do not use thin paper to make this, it will be too weak to support your iPhone's weight.

Fold and enjoy!

I have the previous model of this one and it's nice, and I love that it's slim enough to keep in my wallet for whenever I may need it.

Thanks for linking that Elago. I made a post like this when the iPhone 4 came out and no one replied. It's nice to see there are some out now :D

The Elago looks nice. While searching I also found the Luxa 2 H1. Looks pretty nice and compatible with other devices.. what do you guys think?

iAngle holds your phone in both orientations and is an earbud wrap for your pocket.

Meanwhile, I effed up big time. I had two old Apple Newton supports with variable angle. Solid and perfect. Found them in the garage and, on a whim, chucked them out, thinking who needs this kind of thing. Did it mid way between the Newton death and iPhones coming out.

I like hte Luxa 2 H1 in that its adjustable so you can use it whether your phone is naked or in a case of various sizes. Can't say I'm crazy about those arms though, but its a trade off.
