I just bought an iMac 27" i5 Refurbished from Apple about a week and a half ago. Now, my superdrive is messed up. Discs are getting stuck, scratched and now not reading. Other than the superdrive the machine works great, no yellowing (if there is i can't notice it), no HDD noise, no dead pixels, etc.

Now since I am within the 14 day period I can just get it replaced by Apple online. But, my concern is getting a replacement machine with yellowing and dead pixels, because Apple doesn't consider these defects for the most part. Should I just get the superdrive fixed or get the whole machine replaced by Apple?

Get the SuperDrive fixed, it's easier and will get you a perfect machine

Does it matter if I go to an Apple store or a certified Apple repair center? Because the repair center is only 10 miles away and the closest store is 30.

Both are fine. 3rd party resellers are sometimes better than Apple in terms of service and time
