I just got a first gen iTouch from my mom as she got a newer model. I restored to factory settings and put my songs and videos on it. I went to get some apps, however it said my iTouch needed to be upgraded to a 3.0 version. I found out my iTouch is a 2.2.1 version. How can I update my iTouch for free?

do you rly want to know?
apple no longer sells the 3.0 software and 4.0 is not there for the g1. go to this link. get the 3.1.2 software because the link for 3.1.3 is broken. do that. after it is done downloading, go inot itunes and do option+Restore. find your IPSW file and voila. u have your device upgraded to 3.0

9.99 in June when 3.0 first came out. Free update to 3.1.0 mid August (paid users only). 4.95 in September for 3.1.1 and free update for 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 (paid users only).

Just pay the 5 dollars using iTunes gift cards.
