Room is getting a bit tight, luckily I'm finding hiding places all over the house. So far none have been found by the other half ;-)

Are you goig to be buried with all of that - or is it already burying you?

Not burying me, I think I can find space for another 10 years of Apple.
After that, perhaps it will be time to find another (bigger) house :-)

Hello,
......1994 Mac 7100 (first batch of PowerPC machines) ,
PowerBook 540c (last 040)......
Not to be picky, but 540c was not the last 040.. The 550C and 190cs was released after...
Nice collection :D

Good point, my mistake.
Mine is a 190cs, I got rid of the 540 earlier this year for that very reason.

WOW! And I though having a Macintosh Portable (original, not backlit) and a PB 145B was cool. I started with a Performa 6320CD which got me through college - I loved that machine (TV tuner card was great fun). I've also been through about 5 or 6 G3's. Wish I hadn't sold them all now. :(

I've been using a mac since I was li'l. I can't remember the name of my first one, but it had a CD Rom that had to use a disc caddy instead of a tray. It was a pain. Then I got a performa, and then a used Bondi iMac on eBay, and then an eMac, and now I've been saving for a Powerbook. It'll take forever cuz I'm only 15 and I don't have a job :( . It gives me something to loo foreward to though :o

20. Macintosh Portable
...
Does yours still work?
Mine does :D, but I had to remove the HD and insert a second floppy drive.
It also crashes if I hang something onto the SCSI bus..
It now runs OS 6 with 4 MB RAM!

That's Claris, the dog-cow. Yes, it is an Apple watch- it says so right on the back.
Yeah, my 20th works, but it doesn't have the radio tuner. It doesn't have the dreaded buzzing, either, thankfully :) Mine has 64megs RAM (hard to find the RAM over here), the HD is stock and the OS is 9. I use it mostly for iTunes as a jukebox and to upload things to my Newton. It also just looks good sitting there :) :D

Oh sorry, you meant my Portable.
Yes, but it's not very healthy. Here's a small video clip of it running: Macintosh Portable (http://homepage.mac.com/time_pilot/iMovieTheater30.html). It runs OS 6.0.8 with 1meg of RAM :) It's like an old car where I have to keep trying to start it up. After a while it begins to work OK but crashes sometimes for no apparent reason.

Prototype Pippin with internal hard drive
I would really like to see a few pics of this. Do You have any of the Games?
mkjj
Dec 14, 2004, 07:21 AM
A lot of prototype and test Pippin units have been on eBay recently (thanks Andrew!) from Katzmedia who where a Pippin developer just as the machine was cancelled. I already have have three Pippin units (two white and boxed, one black, unboxed) and also recently bought some Pippin parts, chassis, ROM chipset, rare test grey case parts etc.
I have managed to source some games also, Racing Days R, Shockwave Assault, Teabreak amongst them. Some of the items can be seen at:
www.mac-collection.co.uk
or a great site is:
www.pippinworld.co.uk
John who runs this site has seems to have a good knowledge of the system

I could probably take some photos if you are interested? The casing is a standard Pippin design in a similar colour to the Japanese units but slightly more beige. The Pippin boots into a stripped down version of os 7.1 and will therefore run standard Mac games. I have been reliving my youth of late & playing Wolfenstein 3d on it, which is still pretty cool. The Pippin has an additional 8mb of prototype Apple branded ram installed and is sitting on a prototype floppy drive. I have also have an external cd rom drive connected via the rear SCSI port (the hard drive takes up the space internally where the production cd drive should go) I have daisy chained a powerbook 520c to this which means I can run the Pippin OS on the Powerbook and vice versa.

It was! haven't done anything with them yet, still under my desk in work!
Will post some pics during the break next to the black version. Also when I bought the black one, I got a memory module (plugs in the base of the Pippin)with it, the max I have seen recorded is 8mb, the label states that this one is 16mb and at a time when the max Sony had was 1mb.
Anybody else heard of this size of memory module before? can't find any info it.

Great shots, many thanks for posting, very interesting. PS the grey case is no different to my black US Pippin I have and that was a boxed item.
Saved yourself £50 there!

I'm impressed with your collection of watches, I actually have one that I got for a birthday a long time ago but has not been used for years (not one that you have in your collection there though). Funny how after Steve Jobs took over the reigns they were never updated again :D

I have read that Steve pulled the plug particularly on the watches, but also on lots of the other paraphernalia because the quality of these items where not great and did not reflect Apples own products.

Got that red OS8 one, its nice. Got a realy nice Jorg Gray Apple watch, very subtle, brushed silver and black strap witha very small Apple logo on the face. Not seen many of them since I bought mine a few years ago.
The quality of the watches in general are very good, shame you can't get them anymore

Or maybe a bigger wallet.
I'm curious as to why you're saving them - nostalgia, collectible value, to use occasionally etc?
Personally, when something has outlived it's usefulness in my house, it's outta here, unless it was a gift or some other special reason.

Why do people collect anything old? If I had a really big bank account I would also like to collect classic sports cars, which are about as relevant to todays motoring as old Macs are to modern computing. As the classic Ferrari was the pinnacle of engineering, style and elegance in its day, the classic Mac was Apples engineering gem of its day. Thousands if not Hundreds of thousands of hours went in to the design of each product, sure by todays standards they are slow and old fashioned, but they are still pieces of engineering brilliance for their time. As with the Ferrari, Its a whole lot of fun to take these classics for a spin in the modern world just to see what they can do. :D
