No tax from Amazon so yes, it'll be cheaper.

But amazon buys through J&R music world, so if my imac has a yellow tinge, won't it be much more of a pain in the ass to correspond with this company which is located god knows where as opposed to just being able to walk into the apple store? This is the only downside I can think of.

The no tax DOES sound very nice though...

Ordering my new IMac at Apple.com now. I still can get a free ipod plus student discount. Even with tax, Amazon is not going to beat the student price. I'm going sell my IPod.

^^^^^ let me know if you have problems with the apple store order because when I want to check out I get "Can't find the page"

also, how do you figure the deal is better on apple? Because its 300 dollars off? -100 for education, -200 for ipod? Can you really resell it for 200? am I missing something?

I can ditch my ipod easily for $175, unopen, new and tax free.

Amazon is not going to get this model for awhile (as in a few weeks.) Waiting and technolog does not go well together if you ask me. Buy what you need now. If you can wait, you probably dont need it to begin with.
