Excellent! That definitely looks like a bigger gpu, so that's either the custom 5670 or perhaps the desktop 5750. I'm kind of disappointed that they didn't find a way for the right side fan to be directly under gpu heatsink fan.

At least apple found a good use of that empty space above the gpu, origianlly I thought they just replaced the disk drive with an ssd.

Can't imagine it's going to take too long before someone makes the bracket. I told OWC that it's a perfect opportunity for it!

Yeah, but that only covers step 3, right?

1) Connect a data cable to the empty SATA port on the back of the logic board (a process requiring the removal, of several screws and partial removal of the logic board.
2) Get a Y-cable that goes from 1 SATA male power connector to 2 SATA female power connectors. (This step is actually pretty easy.)
3) Find a way to secure your 2.5″ drive in the space that the carrier would normally hold it.

It would have been nice if it werent unnecessarily difficult -.-

I was thinking the same thing. I can't imagine that it will be long before the brackets start to appear on ebay.

Do they put the SSD in the same place as in the SSD/HDD configuration?

If so, is it worth it to pay the $300 extra (since the SSD/2TB option is $900 vs the $600 for just the SSD) for the 2TB Apple hard drive or just go with the SSD only config and install a 2TB hard drive myself?

Are you saying that the SSD only option comes with the SSD in the 3.5" bay with a special enclosure? Or are you talking about the SSD combined with the normal HDD configuration?

I've taken my 27" iMac completely apart and there is plenty of room underneath the 3.5" to mount the SSD. I would've done this myself but the 2009 only has 2 SATA ports....I'm going to disassemble and see if there isn't a place to solder on a port and see if that will work....call me crazy...

I like the idea of a SATA port in the back of the machine. I use SATA for my backups from my macbook pro.

Been waiting for this for ages - take away the stupid SD card slot and give me something useful :D
