Has Anyone's iMac Shipped Yet? [Archive]

Just a quick question: Yesterday evening i ordered the high end 21.5" with apple remote, "free" ipod nano 8gb, 'free' printer & iphone dock. iMac ships in 4 business days, ipod in 24 hours, dock in 24 hours and printer in 1-2 weeks. The order tells me the shipping will happen when everything is ready. Does that printer REALLY take 1-2 weeks in order to ship?! Would be a real bummer..

Hey, are you in the UK by any chance? Just out of interest, which printer did you opt for?

Orderd my 27" quad i7 2.93 ghz with 8 gb ram yesterday afternoon. Havent been shipped yet, and last time I checked the order-status it stated estimated delivery 10-11 aug. :( living in Sweden.

Ordered this morning, estimated ship date for the iMac is within 2 - 4 business days. Estimated delivery is sometime between August 3rd and 9th. We'll see if that improves over the next few days.

Can't wait! So excited! First new Mac in almost 4 years!

So, my payment arrived and the estimated delivery date is the 16th of august. I ordered on the 27th of july. That's a really long time.. But that's because the printer (epson) is out of stock. I will call Apple Support and tell them i want to order split.

Mathijs - that's weird. I'm in the U.S., but last June when I ordered my MBP with itouch and "free" printer, it ALL came piecemeal. (Almost every component came on a different day without me asking.)

I still think it's a good idea to call and ask them to ship it individually, though. Btw, I got a similar Epson with my last Mac, and it works very well. I'm still a fan of HP printers, however, so I currently use an HP C6180 All-in-one. This is my second one; I sold the other one because I was leaving Hawaii, where I was living at the time, and didn't want to bring it with me. (No wi-fi, but I can scan, fax, it has a card reader, good copies, pretty fast, AND individual inks that I just had refilled at Costco, cheap.)

So far with the Costco ink I've only printed out black and white stuff, and the quality seems exactly the same as HP. They say[B], in fact, that it [B]is the same HP ink. When i print out a photo, I'll have a better idea of the quality.
The one thing that bugs me about the HP is that if ONE of the ink cartridges runs out, you can't print anything until you replace it. So each cartridge has to have ink in it for the printer to work. You can still scan, fax, etc.
I've seen lots of All-in-ones very cheap on Craig's List, in case it's a Mac choice and you don't want to do the rebate thing.

FYI PC SWITCHERS

Be aware that (just like with Windows 7, now :p) a lot of printers aren't Mac compatible, even sometimes when they say they are. At least, this is how it was about 4 years ago, it might have changed. I'd double-check with the sales person/internet and keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks for the intel. My idea of calling Apple Support about splitting the order comes from another UK user who ordered the same printer and Apple itself sent him an e-mail 24 hours after the order was payed, that the printer (epson) is not in stock. Therefore they advised calling Apple Support and have the order split. So that's why i will do the same thing..

Are all you guys really students?
I have a link for HE but am thinking of holding off on purchase until my evening class starts in order that I can legitimately get it (apple told me the discount would apply even for night classes so its cheaper for me to do a dreamweaver course and buy through HE rather than buy normally). currently would save £170 + get free ipod over the employee discount scheme.

Its a little annoying that my son (15) isnt eligible for any kind of discount as hes really into music production and an imac would be perfect!

Im somewhat irritated mine has not shipped. I ordered two i7's 8gb 2tb+ssd(wife and i always upgrade with identical machines at the same time so as not to cause maritql issues :))

I placed the order on the 27th about 1 hr after the announcement. I live in the us.

I ordered on 26th July, just the day before the update. Apple automatically cancelled the old one and replace with a new one. But the new one hasn't shipped yet. I got my printer and ipod touch yesterday 29 July.

This is the order status:
Ships: within 24 hours
Delivers: 29/07/2010 - 30/07/2010

But 20 mins later, it'll be 31 July =(

Delivery estimates for the iMac are August 3-7, iPod touch is August 3 (It's cruising around in Shanghai China right now according to FedEx) and the printer coming from California will be here July 31. As per usual the items I am least excited about will arrive soonest =P

I'm stoked, moving up from a .8 G4, 15" flower pot. For some reason, I expected the Fedex tracking info to start in China, not California.

yea i got the same thing on my fed ex tracking it shipped from CA not china :D.... which is pretty sweeet ....i think lol faster i guess to reach my place in US.

I thinking they built up a California stock of some base configurations, like 2.93 i7, with the various HD combinations, then depending on your memory order and software pre-loads, custom-configured it per your order. Didny any other previous BTO iMacs ever originate from California instead of China? They don't have an assembly line in California, do they? I'm sure, down the line, they will be shipped directly from China. But these early ones have me wondering who's actually doing the BTO. Take care!

I know it early... but I'm just curious. Mine has been "prepared for shipment" since noon PDT mine has shipped and is a few miles away at their warehouse, but they wont deliver it till monday, and they wont let me pick it up...

ordered mine the day it was announced. it was supposed to be delivered yesterday, but fedex messed up and left a note on my neighbor's door! they went to the wrong apartment. i was so pissed. called them up right away, told them to hold onto it and drove 35 minutes to fedex this morning to pick it up.

btw, it shipped from Pennsylvania to me here in upstate new york. also expected it to ship from china like others. so to summarize, ordered tuesday, sent out wednesday, arrived thursday but didnt get it until today, friday, because of stupid fedex.

Ordered mine on Wednesday - 21.5", 3.60GHZ i5, 4gb ram, 2TB HDD. Shipped today out of Oakland, CA for arrival on the 2nd. Really looking forward to it. I currently have an Aug 2007 20" aluminum core 2 duo - one out of the first batch of aluminum iMacs. Hopefully this'll be a nice step up. I do a lot of podcast stuff on the current iMac and it's gotten a little slow/crashy in GarageBand as of late.

Have to say I'm impressed with speed of shipment in UK. Ordered my iMac i7 with no other added extras yesterday from the online Apple store at 12noon, and by 9am this morning (Saturday) it has said it has already shipped! Expecting it on or before 6th August....a week is not bad!

To complicate things, I helped a relative order the exact configuration(mine only with battery charger kit), but am having both iMacs shipped to my address since someone will be home next week to take delivery. I doubt that really affects the shipping and delivery, which says "delivers Aug 3 - Aug 7"
I have to say I am so envious of the folks who know theirs is already on the way! I have an early 2006 intel iMac that I am replacing, and I have waited patiently for this tiny refresh and someone being home to take delivery at this time. I think this lack of shipping status is what's making me nuts now on July 31st!
I can't wait to get my hands on this thing - maybe the exact BTO specs are why mine is where it is?
Hopefully, it'll be delivered this week and I will be thrilled to bits!:)

I ordered an iMac, iTouch, Printer. I checked through FEDEX website using my phone number, and it shows up two tracking number. The first one weighs 43lbs, was wondering if that is the iMac and the printer? And the other one is 1lbs, and I think thats the iTouch. But does Apple ship the printer and iMac in the same box? It does weight 43lbs. Anyone that got there iMac shipped i7, how much did yours weigh?

Just a quick question: Yesterday evening i ordered the high end 21.5" with apple remote, "free" ipod nano 8gb, 'free' printer & iphone dock. iMac ships in 4 business days, ipod in 24 hours, dock in 24 hours and printer in 1-2 weeks. The order tells me the shipping will happen when everything is ready. Does that printer REALLY take 1-2 weeks in order to ship?! Would be a real bummer..

When i bought my macbook pro in store, they checked my student id.

This time around when i ordered online, they pretty much just asked you to click on a box that has an agreement saying that you are indeed a student. So yeah pretty much rely on your word LOL

Yeah, orderd a 13" Macbook pro late yesterday evening, got shipped today. Guess I have to send a bomb threat to them in Cork Ireland so they make sure to build and deliver our Imacs. Really need it for this weekend :eek:

I ordered my imac from the university bookstore where I work at so I could get the educational discount. Ordered first thing on Tuesday 7/29, and all it has ever said is "not yet shipped"

I don't understand why I see people in this thread saying they ordered on the 29th and they have theirs shipped, yet I order mine only a few hours after they were even offered and nothing shipped.

Question! I asked Apple to split my order if the printer would delay the whole package, and they agreed. They sent me an email telling me my iMac will be shipped the 4th of august. But i don't see that on my order status page.. Is this normal? On that page, it still shows ships by 12th, delivers by 16th. I should probably rely on the email i got i presume?

Is there still a shortage of the epson printers? I'm in the Uk, ordered today over the phone and the guy said all my items seem to be in stock so no need to split.

My estimated delivery time is 12th-14th August. Does it usually take that long?

In the belgian store that printer still gives 1-2 weeks delivery date.. So i guess it's still out of stock. I'm guessing my order status won't be updated until it's the 4th when my iMac, iPhone dock & iPod will be shipped.

So called Apple about my janky tracking number. The girl said she had gotten calls of this nature earlier in the day and the problem lay with fedex. She said if the iMac didn't arrive between the 4th or the 7th to give them a call back. I hope it doesn't come to that. Must play Starcraft 2!

As far as I am aware if you order a custom imac it is shipped from China, I am in the same boat just now..

Mine is due to arrive 6th August but all I have is those same sort of details, I guess until it arrives in the UK and gets a courier ie Fed Ex, UPS or whatever apple use in the UK then we won't get any other details..

it'll be updated in time though!

(Its worth noting that this date has changed every day, ie 1st Aug, 2nd Aug, 3rd...)

No tracking number, no carrier. Hmmmm.... :o

EDIT: I've discovered something rather interesting. The U.K and U.S Apple Store sites both show different information regarding your Shipping. I've just logged onto the U.S site instead, and now it shows the courier my items are shipping in - for the iMac, its "Kuhne & Nagel Spedition s.a r.", and for the iPod Touch and AppleCare, its "Syncreon Technology" . All shipped on July 30th apparently.

Alright, the printer delay story: it seems it isn't delayed anymore since my order status was updated this afternoon: ready for shipment. A few hours after that i got an email from apple my order has been shipped with a delivery date of tomorrow! That's really soon.. UPS tracking number confirms this. Sweet.

I would give apple a call and ask them for a tracking number. Don't forget it was customed built so it is normal it's taken longer to ship.

I'm also in Switzerland. I ordered a Refurb i7 yesterday morning (with a few other items, which were all shipping within 24h) and it got shipped yesterday evening apparently. It is being shipped with TNT and I can already follow the tracking information, although there isn't much info posted yet, apart from pick up date indicated as 6th August.

Correction: It is already in Eindhoven and in transit :)

I'm in Canada (Ontario). I ordered mine the morning of July 27th. It shipped on July 30th from Rancho COrdova, California, then made its way to Elk Grove, California, spent some time in Memphis, TN, then arrived at the sort centre in Calgary, Alberta on July 31st and has been there ever since. :( It was supposed to deliver to my home yesterday (Aug. 5th) according to the email from Apple. FedEx told me that apparently it is waiting to clear customs, and I phoned Apple and they said once it's 3 business days past when they said it would deliver to call them back and they will try and get it cleared for me or something like that. Ugh, this waiting is killing me. Stupid Canada Customs!!

That sucks. I ordered on the 28th. Shipped Aug 4th, made it to Calgary on the 5th where it did have a note "Paperwork available for non-FedEx broker" but by the 6th, it was out on the truck for delivery.

I think they lost your papers or it's perpetually on the bottom of the stack.

lol yeah, that's what I was thinking, but later on it FINALLY said that it was at the sort facility in Thunder Bay, and now it has said "On FedEx truck for delivery" for several hours. I wonder if that means it is actually out for shippment, or if it is literally just in a truck, sitting in a parking lot or something....

iMac came in today!! I've been playing around with it all afternoon, setting it up and showing it off to my friends and family. Everyone is either in awe or questioning why I need such a big screen!:rolleyes:

No yellow tint issue at all, but I DO have one dead/stuck pixel (I don't know the difference), but it is definitely not noticeable unless my face is two inches away from the screen, and not worth me sending this thing back and risking a yellow screen or something...

I don't know how quiet these things are supposed to be, but I can hear the hard drive. Is that supposed to happen, or is this the loud hard drive issue I have heard? I don't know any better, lol, and it is hugely awesome compared to my PC that just got retired today....

Every printer seems to be ready for shipping within 24 hours.
My status is still "Not yet shipped" - ordered the iMac with an iPod and an OfficeJet 4500. I think I have to call Apple again on Monday... :mad:

Thats what it said when I ordered mine (same as you).. Checked friday morning, shipping time went up to 2-3 weeks !!!

So I cancelled it, called Apple about it, they where sorry and promised to put my order in "priority", and when I receive my iMac, they will contact me back and give me something (commercial gesture).. maybe a 100$ voucher or something.

Do the same !

Just received my new 27" 2.93 I7 and there's dust under the glass. :( sending it back...

This is so frustrating.....2nd time this has happened with a 27" iMac and I had a similar issue with my 24: cinema display. THe first 2 had particles under the screen.

BTW - they weren't defective in the traditional sense. There was dust under the glass.....

We have 8 macs in our home between my wife (1), myself (2), our 4 kids (1) each and an old iMac used as a iTunes server for whole house audio. My in-laws recently bought a 27" and my sister recently purchased a 24" for her office and a 27" for her home. All were without issue except the ones mentioned.

My first 2 Cinema displays were refurbed. They both had dust particles under the glass. The third was a new, non-refurbed without issue. My first 27 2.8 Core i7 was a refurb. The replacement was also a refurb and had no issues.

I left the country for a week and came back to Apple's announcement of the new 2.93 Core i7. Apple graciously offered me the option to upgrade to a new 2.93 i7 machine without any restocking fees. I figured it would be a good option. Upon receipt of the new machine today, I was shocked to see the same problem for the 4th time especially since the new iMac was not a refurb. If you want pics...let me know. Then tell me if you'd "let it go" or want it right.

As a Apple shareholder and someone who loves the brand, I was concerned about a widespread QC issue.

There were several people with dust under the screen of the IP4 phones. Mine is perfect. Same with some iPad customers. No issue there either. Stuff happens.

Unfortunately, I had a disproportionate amount of the same issue. No reason to imply anything beyond that. I've also had a disproportionate amount of good luck in most aspects of my life....far more important than this issue.

Your remarks were without merit and nothing positive could have come from it.

Just received my iMac 27" i7. I ordered it on the 3rd, got shipment notice on the 6th, and it arrived today. Pretty good. I'll spend the day setting it up and moving data from my good old C2D. Now I guess I can hop over to the iMac 27 i7 owner's thread. :)

Fedex picked my 27-i7 in Newark, CA on the 4th and the last tracking info posted was that it was in Reno, NV on the 5th. It's project to arrive tomorrow.

I bought this with the lowest price I could find. I wish I would have opted for expedited shipping!

I'm in the UK and my imac shipped from China on Thursday. I still don't have a tracking number. Is this normal?

What's the procedure with imacs coming from China? Do they go straight to the courier or to an apple base?

I think it takes a day or two for the courier to pick it up and assign a tracking number.

The staff at Apple CS are very helpful but really clueless.

I just rang Apple and the CS guy said that:

"Machine will leave China on agreed ship date... it then has to pass through 3 customs gates = China -> LUX -> UK ------ it will then it will hit the Apple warehouse where it will join my other items on the order (E.g. laptop\printer etc) and then the courier will ship it to me..."

Got an update yesterday from the retailer from which I ordered my iMac. Apparently my iMac delivery has been delayed until the 25th(:mad:).. was originally meant to be delivered tomorrow... Delays suck!

Ordered the base level i3 21.5" iMac on Wednesday afternoon. Got an email from apple yesterday evening saying that my credit card company was querying the transaction so had to call them to confirm that it was legitimate.

Fingers crossed apple will try and take the money today and start processing the order for delivery. I guess as I'm ordering a stock model (along with 8gb iPod Touch and HP4500 printer) it should ship fairly quickly once the payment has cleared.

Looking forward to finally getting my first iMac! :)

Update: Sure enough, not only did my iMac not arrive today, but the "Estimated delivery" date (which was today) disappeared from the tracking website. I guess this normally happens when Fedex misses the date. Now I have to wait until next week for a new "Estimated delivery" date to appear. I just hope the iMac is not getting banged around in transit somewhere.

I ordered mine on Thursday 12th August - Quad 27" i7 with 1TB HD - the guy on the phone said it would come from China built to order, but instead it came straight from Ireland and arrived yesterday, the 13th August. It took just over 24 hours to arrive, not bad! Guess they must've had a stockpile or something.

Trouble is that I have a dead pixel and a speck of dust behind the glass so I'm now considering a replacement..

I've ordered a new 27" iMac on 10th of August. When i placed my order the extimated shipping date is 3 working day and the delivery scheduled for 16-17 of August. Yesterday, in time with the prediction, the iMac yesterday was sent but the extimated delivery date has become inexplicably Thursday 19. After that, this morning the state changed again to (written in Spanish?!?!?!): "En tránsito hacia el país de destino: la información se actualizará en los próximos 4 o 5 días laborales" which means that the shipment is in transit and will have new information from 5 or 6 days....they are crazy? The iMac was sent from Cork Island and I'm in Italy! with TNT i recieved my iMac i7 (2009) in 2 days from China! UPS will take 1 week from Cork Island to Italy?!? they are completely crazy?!? anyone had a problem like this?!? thanks!

Arrived at FedEx Ground in Sacramento about 3 AM Friday, and arrived at our doorstep Saturday midday, but my wife didn't hear the doorbell and the driver left a door tag and took off. Next try on Tuesday since their weekend is Sunday and Monday. Arrgh! Shoulda left a note, will on Tuesday.

After departing from Sacramento for 4 days, my BTO iMac has arrived in Memphis. Now it has one day to get to Louisiana and in my hands by the end of Tuesday to be delivered within the expected timeframe.

Ordered a BTO 27-inch i5 quad with SSD and trackpad on Wed. morning via Apple online store.

It arrived today, from Elk Grove, "assembled in USA." Haven't opened it yet; am currently doing a full defrag (first in 7-8 years) of my G4's HDD, preparatory to making a bootable clone on an external HDD and using that to migrate from. [Apple rep said doing it direct from G4 (with Tiger? I don't remember) can leave data files behind.] Another suggestion I found: when iMac first boots up it asks for a new administrator name and password. Don't give it the old one; give it some other one and then the clone will be loaded with the old password and all.
