I am wondering what is the point/benefit of indexing your hard drive or select folders from the "get info" panel?
Could anyone enlighten me?
Thanks.

I *think* the idea of indexing is to make it so that any searches yield results faster.

I *think* the idea of indexing is to make it so that any searches yield results faster. You are correct. Once Tiger comes out, It will index the HD on-the-fly, so you don't have to worry about indexing...On my workstation ( a dual 1gig- with 500 gigs of space, searching is so tedious (you enter one letter and it bogs the whole thing down) that i index'ed it over night and it made a large difference. On my powerbook the difference wasn't as large.
