Adding RAM

The iMacs ship, by default, with 4GB of RAM in the form of 2x2GB sticks, right? And there are four RAM slots in the machine?

Question:

Can I stick two 4GB sticks in the other two slots?

Or do they have to match?

Are you aware of any performance hit or other side-effects?

There shouldn't be any because modern memory controllers can handle mixed RAM just fine.
