I'm thinking about the 27" i7 2.93 with the 250 SSD drive, but want to make sure the batches of them are good!!!!

Remember. Most people who make topics here are having problems, there are plenty of people out there with perfect machines.

All of the 27" iMacs I've seen have had no defects, only heard of them on the internet.

Nothing wrong with my Quad core. I love it to bits. I also work in an APR in the UK and we have had two 27" iMacs returned since launch last year - I don't think that that's bad!

I think the days of rampant iMac troubles are behind us at long last. I remember the Apple discussion boards being absolutely flooded with issues, as well as this forum. Now it's much more rare. I'm confident in buying a much-awaited i7 BTO in a few weeks.

Just picked up the 27" iMac 2.8GHz i5. The screen is flawless and the enclosure is cool and quiet. I was able to squeeze in some time for Starcraft 2 and CS:Source, both run at the native resolution and "High" settings and seem to be buttery smooth. :D

The only negative thing I have to say is the magic mouse is not ideal for gaming. One reason being I just want to be gentle with it, but more importantly I sometimes unintentionally scroll. Which is not a problem with day to day use, but fatal in CS:Source (scroll == change weapon).

Purchased the 27" 2.8 ghz i5 two days ago. Installed all my software, adobe creative suite, aperture, a few architectural rendering programs and a couple CAD packages. Everything is brilliant! My only scare was as I turned the imac on for the first time there seemed to be some moisture on the inside of the screen and the only way I could get rid of it was to rub violently over the area. It soon disappeared.. I guess it will have been caught there during the manufacturing stage, a little worrying! I look forward to installing windows (Traitor through desperation of specific CAD programs) with bootcamp to find out the performance across the board.

How long have you had this imac for? And how long have you had it up and running?

I'm totally thrilled with my 2-month old 2009 27" i7.

If I had to pick something to complain about, it's that 1TB SSD drives aren't cost-effective yet. In a quiet room with such an elegant machine in front of me, even the quiet, dull grumble of the HDD is a tiny bit irritating.

My i5 27 inch is perfect... no issues at all.

I have had a 27 with issues a while back in March and returned it. Other than that every other imac i have seen in store or at a friends or my new one has been perfect.

I love my new i5 I picked up today at the Apple store. :) It has very minimal yellow tint towards the bottom, and the only thing I'm finding annoying about it is the hard drive is noisy because it's a damned Seagate. Other than that, well worth the money.

My 27" i5 (from last year) is as close to perfect as you can get.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A306 Safari/6531.22.7)

Just got my 27 in I7 (free shipping and it came next day!). All seems perfect but on an all black screen, I see some light leakage from the left side. More of a nitpick since my screen is almost never entirely black but that's my only minor complaint. Otherwise, nice step up from my 2006 MBP Core Duo.

Almost perfect.

One stuck pixel near the very bottom, have to strain to find it.

The whites are white and no yellowing. No scratches. Almost perfect. Very happy. :D

Im a pro-photographer, using both the Imac-27 and Eizo monitors. If you get a good 27, believe me, its a joy to work with. fast!!! elegant, simply an outstanding piece oif machinery, BUT! you got to get a good sample.

On my second one, bought originally 1.5 mos ago, got replacement 1 mo. ago. One dead pixel, very soft whine (not audible to my ears below brightness 14), light yellowing near the bottom, I see the gray band sometimes on full-white screens.

It's far from perfect, I wish Apple's QC was better, and I could have certainly had better timing, but what the hell, I actually love the thing anyway. I think their current level of quality is certainly challenging to the perfectionist, but the overall product remains sublime.

i'm looking forward to getting my iMac i5 27" this Sunday. I doubt even if I have "grumbling" noise, I'll even notice. This is only because I have endured years of my G5 Quad's fans going strong at 3000+ RPM even at idle. Only recently have I need to run the machine at reduced to not get into thermal runaway. I think the iMac will be like buttery whispers compared to my howling G5 Quad...

Well after looking a little bit better. It's not a stuck pixel, but a speck of dust behind the LCD screen. WTH? No big deal, as you can hardly see it, but annoying when I know it's there.

I am still keeping it. The screen is perfect other than the speck of dust.

I guess I am on the bad luck side...

I got my i7 with 16 GB a month ago. It begun with somewhat weird behavior occasionally (it refused to wake up from sleep from time to time) but, as I was very pleased with the screen, I thought I could live with that minor issue.

Last week it decided not to turn on the screen.

Sent it back to replace logic board. As I did not buy it through the Apple Store, they will not replace it with a new iMac.

So... now waiting for a deep repair, while looking with envy to those new SSDs

Same for me, i think i needed to see a thread like this. The only threads i have seen lately is yellow screen, dog whistling, heat etc.

Going by this forum you'd think no ones happy with their mac!

Going to order mine on Monday so we'll see if i am unlucky

Yeah I am getting one at my local apple store (luckily only 10 minutes away) next week once I get my new credit card. If I have any issues I am going right back to apple.

But now I am pretty positive about the situation, especially with these new HDMI adapters that scale to the 27" resolution

Got the new 27" yesterday and though I'm pleased with performance and screen. The hard drive noise is really annoying...

Open up iPhoto, it churns, iTunes, it churns, scroll through web pages and you get some hungry stomach noise.

I may even return it due to this but i have 14 days to decide. This is going from a 3 year old iMac that is silent so its quite a shock.

Right , like people you can find in a hospital, not the healthy ones... but this looks the most of the time like a hospital :D
