I have searched this forum, and I apologize if this has already been asked before. But I wanted to know if there was any app in existence that I could download that is designed to teach a programming newbie like me the basics of Objective-C? Thanks in advance.

Sorry you'll have to put up with reading I'm afraid. You might some semi useful videos on YouTube though. Although I have to say most of the programming videos I have seen have been next to useless.

Yeah, that's what I've been finding out through my research so far. Some videos have at least given me an idea of what to expect, but none actually explain what is going on, so I'm left scratching my head. I've ordered a copy of iPhone Programming: The Big Nerd Ranch Guide, by Aaron Hillegass, and I'm sure that that'll give me more than enough info. I was just wanting something to keep me occupied while I wait impatiently for it! :D

I just have to say thank you SO much GTghost. I'm a few videos into his Objective-C tutorials and this is exactly what I need.

I also mentioned a YouTube Objective-C series in this thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=981230).

Thanks! I'll check that out too. Suddenly this is starting to make sense. The resources I was looking through before were ridiculous, and assumed that you had a firm grounding in the language, even though they claimed they were for absolute beginners.

I found the Stanford lectures in iTunes U to be really helpful in introducing UIKit and some of the other iPhone APIs.

I second this.

The videos from Lynda are pretty good, I'm about half-way through and it makes a lot of sense. The down side is its not free, and they charge monthly. If you can get it all down from youtube then you're set!
