Software Update Nor iTunes Store Working

For the last couple weeks I've been trying to upload software update and the iTunes store, but neither can make a connection. Software update reports a networking error (-1001), which I looked up and tried various solutions posted online, but couldn't get anything tow ork. It has nothing to do with my network because I've tried on three different wi-fi connections. Does anyone have any ideas? I actually just tried to jailbreak my iPhone, but I lost MMS and facetime and wanted to restore, but can't without a connection to the iTunes store. Any help would be great. Thanks.
