Unless you're under 14 days it's too late.

There's Page 1 MacRumors and the Buyer's Guide as well. Make sure to take a look at both before buying a new Mac. It'll at least save you this grief.

Now, most people will tell you theres nothing you can do but I have found most store managers pretty reasonable with exchanges within reason. If you take it back and explain the situation, do not talk to any associates they have no authority and do not listen to them. Talking to them will only decrease chances of an exchange, be very calm and patient and if all else fails call customer support.

I bought the Corei7 (previous version) on June 26th.

Everyone was telling me "blah blah, woof woof, a Mac Pro refresh will happen but unlikely an iMac refresh".

I had to spring for one due to the fact that my G5 was failing fast.

I'm not unhappy especially after I updated those graphics drivers - it's a very fast computer and I'm not likely to hit the wall due to a lack of performance.

You could always try to sell to the average Joe but you'll take a loss if you don't try to talk to the Apple folks.

I highly doubt the performance increase was worth the total amount of money that selling and buying a new one cost you......

but if it makes you happier about your computer and you can afford it then I say good job!

:D

If you don't live too far from an Apple store it never hurts to go to one and try to talk to the store manager. If your live far, try calling apple support. It never hurts to try.

This is another reason why I bought mine from BestBuy. Not only do I have 45 days to return an item, I never have to pay a restocking fee. I bought my 27" iMac duo core, two weeks later I get an email from Apple introducing the new iMacs. I boxed my old one back and got the new one for the same price.

If you bought the old one because it suited your needs, then you didn't need the new one. Money wasted sounds like it.
