I want to update the memory in my i3 from 4GB to 8GB.

Can anybody suggest a brand?

A link to the actual product would be nice.

I have had bad luck with buying PC memory in the past, and want to make sure I get something that is going to work and is not junk.

Thanks.

I can not recommend it, but it does seem like people buy their ram from www.macsales.com

I can recommend OWC; I've used their memory in all of my MacBook Pros and iMacs for the last 4 years and I've had no problems whatsoever. They'll even give you $50 for your old memory to offset the cost of the new memory.

I'm not sure what RAM is included in your Mac, but OWC and Crucial are good places for RAM.

For PC Memory upgrades, I've always had great luck with 'Kingston' brand.

re: http://www.kingston.com/

Not too sure about Kingston brand for iMacs.

Hope this helps...
