Getting Apple Care at a later date?

Hi guys. I'm about to purchase my iMac at best buy (uk). Can you technically buy the apple care when they years standard warranty with best but runs out or purchase apple care when a problem arises with the iMac a year after te warranty runs out? or do you have to buy it within a certain period?

You have a year from the date of purchase to extend Applecare to 3 years total.

How can you be buying it at best buy in the UK? We don't have Best Buys.

You just have to buy and register it within 365 days from date of purchase.

Best Buy recently launched in UK. We have one in merry hill in the west midlands. So I have atlases a year to get apple care then?

For my current "on order" NEW iMac 21.5" I3 system, I will order AppleCare later. Will use this Christmas, my birthday (this coming spring) or my kid's Spring 2011 school graduation event as an "excuse" to buy AppleCare. Will problaby buy AppleCare between month 9 to month 11. Thus, allowing me time to save up for it. re: $5/week or $20/month - to save in my "computer upgrade jar". This works for me....

I see no issue with buying Apple Care at a later date if that make it easier on the wallet. It should be the same support, perhaps in some cases Apple might walk the extra mile if you have Apple Care.. but that's unheard of and it's hard to know if it was because of the Apple Care.

Yeah, I got my iPhone AC for $40. Good deal. Also, EDU pricing is a good deal on Macs.

You may want to add it earlier to keep the 90-day phone support, but you can add it if you need to call Apple.

It's weird, but personally I find it "easier" to buy it when I get the product. It's not rational, but it's easier to invest in new things than old.

I would get it immediately. I tend to forget or miss that date if something comes up so I try to make sure that doesn't happen. After missing the Applecare deadline on my old MBP, I started buying it up front.
