Are the new Mac Pro's going to support 6gb/s Interface?

Do we know if this is going to be supported in the new Mac Pro? Is it even supported in the current Mac Pro? Thanks!!!

They currently list SATA 3gb, not 6. Apple could change these before it ships, though.

It's likely that the 2010 MP will stick with a 3Gbps SATA bus. Intel doesn't support 6Gbps SATA with any of their chipsets yet and Apple logic boards are based Intel designs, usually.

Further, the PC boards that support 6Gbps SATA do so through an add-on NEC or Marvell chip. Nobody does it native yet.

It would have increased Apple's costs, and had another expense in terms of PCIe lanes.

Currently, there's not an Intel chipset that supports it (there actually is the requirement of a separate controller chip, but the chipset won't handle 6.0Gb/s and would downgrade anyway). Which is why a separate chip using PCIe lanes is required.

Look here (http://ark.intel.com/chipset.aspx?familyID=36776&code=Intel%c2%ae+X58+Express+Chipset#compatibility); it needs either the ICH10 or ICH10R to accompany it (same goes with the 5520 used in the DP systems). It's the 82801JB (http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=34392) (ICH10) or 82801JBR (http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=34395) (ICH10R) that actually contains the SATA, USB, and Ethernet controller.
