New iPods before Back to School offer expires?

The Back to School offer for the free iPod after rebate expires Tuesday, September 7th. Do you think the new iPods will be released before this deal expires or should I go ahead and order my iMac? Thoughts!

I do not think they will do it. Last year they did not, the year before last year neither, the year before... ...no.

No they wont release them before BTS expires.

Nope, like every other year the program ends before they announce them. They have this promo to clear out their inventory

I don't think that the new iPods will come out this month, Apple has had 5 years of coming out with new iPods in September of each year, so I think they're going to stick to that for now on. Besides, I don't think the iPods would be released before the Back To School iPod program ends.

Nope, like every other year the program ends before they announce them...

Actually, at least one time in the past (September 5, 2007) Apple released new iPods before the Back to School (BTS) promotion ended (Sept 16th 2007).

However, the new iPods are never a part of the promotion (the fine print for BTS lists the SKU's for the eligible (ie. current as of the promotion start) iPod models and so new iPods are automatically excluded).

My wife's in the market for an iMac. She's going to wait a few weeks just in case. Having the iMac refresh during the offer was unexpected for me, so that's a nice little bonus.
