View Full Version : Will the iPod classic, ever get an external speaker?

One of the things I love about my iPad and iphone is the way I can use the external speaker to listen to audio and video, but I miss having an iPod classic with all it's massive storage capacity. Think they'll ever add an external speaker, so it can be listened to at times without earbuds or docking?

I doubt it. Most of the space in the classic is taken up with the hard drive, and the touch is the only one with a proper speaker in it (iPods), and even then, its not exactly the best speaker, sounds a bit muffled.

I love the speaker on my iPad, but doubt they can fit that in the classic.

Good point about the hard drive. I may still purchase an iPod classic, load everything on it, and keep it docked as an around the home device.

A: NO.

(Unless it gets conjoined with the Touch. You can always buy those tiny external speakers for the things.)

I'm pretty sure the latest nano has a (rather weedy) music capable speaker that plays through the dock connector.
Could foretell something of the entire line's future.

Edit: here we go.

First line; video camera, mic and speaker.

Thanks! I think you just jogged my memory? I think I've seen those tiny speaker things on amazon, in the past. That might be a good solution. :D

Actually, the Nanos with cameras on them have speakers; not the best, but they still do! :)

I used to have one for my old classics before they were known as classics.

They kinda meld in with the shape, sound good enough, and are better than anything Apple will put on the device in the next 5 years.
