how do i transfer video from iphone to mac?

Pretty sure if you use pixelpipe or something similar it just downgrades the quality of the video.

I tried uploading my HD video's with pixelpipe and they looked like crap. So unless I did something wrong, then using a wire might be the best way. 🙁
 
If, as you say, you've a Mac, the best and "correct" way is, as has already been said, via iPhoto. No need to fiddle with extra Apps! 🙂
