P7550 and P8400 for MBP 13" mid-2009

Very minor. Basically the difference is the 8400 supports virtualization, which is more or less for running multiple OSes on the same system at the same time - think VMWare. If you are confused then it probably doesn't matter for you.

AFAIK, Apple used only P8400, not P7550. P7550 came a year after P8400 so it's likely just cheaper due more efficient stepping (R0) than first two revs of P8400 which had C0 and M0 though the current rev uses the same R0 stepping. The biggest difference I can see is that P8400 have two versions, for BGA479 and PGA478 sockets while P7550 supports only PGA478. Also, P8400 supports VT-x which improves virtualization performance while P7550 does not support it.
