Sometimes, but not all the time, whenever I would have an alert on my PowerBook, it makes a quick loud BIZZZZT noise instead of the sound alert... its really weird, and it only happens sometimes. I even went into the System Preferences for Sound, and every time I click one of the alert sounds, it plays the BIZZZT noise, but some will last longer than others.

any ideas?

I hear noises too !!!

Sometimes it sounds like people talking !!!!

:)

Sorry - couldn't resist that.

Is it the hard disk resetting itself? My PB makes occasional odd noises but it's difficult to predict - unlike yours with System Prefs. Disk noises are normal with "power saving" devices and s/w as in PB.

But if your noises are coming from the speakers rather than the body of the PB you probably need to do a bit more experimenting - and record your observations if you want to query Apple.

Good luck

Is there a predictable pattern for when the noises occur, length, etc?

its coming from the speakers, and its like a regular sound, only annoying, especially if my speakers are turned up.

I attached a .mov file of what it sounds like.... I dont know what to do...
