View Full Version : Deauthorizing computer necessary if use Time Machine to reinstall data?

Hello all,

I'm about to upgrade my iMac G5 with a larger hard drive and once I get the new drive in I will use Time Machine to reinstall all my data.

Is it necessary to deauthorize my computer in iTunes if I do this? Or will the computer be the same machine, as far as iTunes is concerned?

P.S. Where's the best place to buy a new hard drive?

Yes. Always deauthorize when you change hardware.

Answer is no if you do a complete restore. it says you gotta authorize, but when you do so it says ' computer already activated.' voilą, no new activation.
Did this when migrating from 500GB HD to 1TB and from 1TB to SSD without any issues.
