just one question - macbook pro and external display

if you want to use the external display as the main display, and close the macbook pro is it possible that the macbook pro might overheat,
or have negative impacts on the machine for keeping it closed while in use?

It's perfectly fine to use the MBP in clamshell mode. The MBP vents are located in back, by the hinge, not on the keyboard.
