iPod not playing when I press play

My iPod is not playing when I press play. I will select a song or a podcast and nothing comes out. The time is frozen on 0:00 and does not move. I can jump around from music to podcasts etc., freely but I cannot get anything to play. I was listening to my iPod this afternoon and it just stopped as it was going to the next song.

What is wrong? What do I need to do?

Hmm.. try resetting it. If that doesn't fix it, you may have a hard drive problem on your hands.

I've never had to reset an iPod before. I didn't know you ever had to.
