I just purchased one of the new 1.2 G4 iBooks with a 30gb 4200rpm hard drive. I agree with all of you in advance when I confess that 30gb is hardly enough space. I am a 'switcher' from the PC world and plan to use my 160gb internal 7200rpm w/8mb cache from my pc desktop as an external hard drive for my iBook by putting it in a 3.5" case, but I don't know if I should get a firewire 400 or a USB 2.0 case. Which is faster in real world transfer speeds and how do both Firewire and USB 2.0 compare to the internal 4200rpm iBook hard drive? Thanks!
PS I will tell you what I do know already:
Firewire transfers at 400 mbits/s
USB 2.0 transfers at 480 mbits/s <--but my experience with 2.0 has been super slow!
30gig 4200 HD transfers at ????!
