In Ear Headphone with mic

Hi, anyone having problems with these? Using them on i4 . Can't get vol up or down. First time having these type of headphones. advice please? thanks.
 
I just tested my Apple in-ear set with the iPhone 4. Works as expected here. At the Springboard it would adjust headphones ringer volume, and in apps it would adjust headphones media volume
