During hot days (yes, we have them in Vancouver) my G4 (1.25, mirrored doors) gets kinda hot; according to my little iStat widget, 37 to 39 C in the CPU.

During these times, applications quit, most notably Quicktime.

Is this usual? 37 degrees C just doesn't seem that hot to me.

are you sure istat i reporting the cpu temp ?as 37 degree would be quiet normal for a G4 mdd , even as high as 50 degree ceslius under heavy workload should not cause the mdd to freeze

That's not really hot at all. It's probably something else. If you're quite certain it's related to heat, then it's something else other than your processor reacting to the heat... like memory.

are you sure istat i reporting the cpu temp correct ?as 37 degree would be quiet alright for a G4 , even as high as 50 degree ceslius should not cause the g4 to freeze, only thing that should happen is the fans starting increase in speed
