Anyone know if the new Mac Pro will have the two spare SATA ports that were in previous models? My NewerTech extender cable was a great addition for adding two eSATA HD's.

In the 2009s those were run up to the optical drive caddy, no reason to think the 2010s will be any different. On the plus side, it makes it a lot easier to toss an SSD up there.

I would assume it's just two extra ports on the board, one of which is already used by the stock optical drive.

Anyone know of an external case for the superdrive? Having that 6th sata port is a little more important to me than always having a optical drive in the machine. Anything firewire/USB?

Just about any external optical drive will work.

Depends. If you need to boot anything other than Mac OS X (and maybe Linux, I am not sure) from CD/DVD, you are out of luck with an external USB/FW drive.
eSATA is what I would do.

USB should work as an All Purpose port (Windows will still boot from USB, as does Linux). :) eSATA or FW however, No. :(
