Not specific to Garageband, but this (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect?tag=digitalsandbo-20&path=tg%2Fdetail%2F-%2F0321246713%2Fqid%3D1101940567%2Fsr%3D8-2%2Fref%3Dpd_csp_2%3Fv%3Dglance%26s%3Dbooks%26n%3D507846) might be a good one. I haven't read it myself, but I have read some tutorials by the author and they have been pretty good.

Ditto on this book. I checked it out from our local library and it's awesome. Comes with a CD-ROM with sample tunes to work with. Very cool and easy to understand.
