I've been using Mail to check my gmail account for probably two weeks now.

Now all the sudden, Mail tells me the gmail POP server is rejecting my password?

I've checked to make sure POP is enabled in my gmail account, and made sure the password matches in my Mail preferences. I don't understand how it worked for two weeks, then just stops without me changing a thing...

Check to see if you can log into Gmail.com. Gmail likes to go down for no reason some times.

It does that to me sometimes too, but if I just re-enter the password then everything is dandy again - till the next time! :p Sometimes I can go days without it checking, sometimes I have to do it multiple times a day. It's beta and not the biggest hassle in the world, so it's not that big a deal, but hopefully they will have it ironed out soon.

Gmail has a security 'feature': if you go to the login page, you'll see that it says "Don't ask for my password for two weeks"
Which is why you're being asked for a password again, now that you've used Mail for 2 weeks now

This happened to me yesterday, I entered my password, and it worked again.
Good luck!

Not sure why this would have any impact on using Mail.app

Thats a web based feature that uses cookies to "remember" you.

I think Mike is talking about the POP feature of GMail, not about access via the webpage.

All I generally do is hit "cancel" and sometime later go hit "get mail" after taking the gmail box back online. Gmail is still in beta, like another poster said.

i still think its the two-week thing, but it has only been a week since it last prompted me, so next thursday, we'll know for sure whether or not its because of the 2 weeks
