Here are some from the last few weeks. The weight is not really that big a deal, but again the biggest lens I use is a Mamiya 80mm 2,8.

The one of Mount Jefferson (the one with the wild flowers) was a 6 mile hike in, and the mosquitoes are (were) horrid, due to all the rain we had in June.

All are taken with the Olympus Zuiko 28mm, except for the close up of Mt. Hood. That was handheld with a Mamiya 80mm. I just need a Daryl Benson reverse grad now...

The star trails is a single exposure, about 19:45 seconds. Pretty good guess on exposure, if I do say so myself. I had a half moon behind me, lighting her up.

Nice images. I'd recommend an ND grad though, the lake images would benefit from a bit more exposure in the foreground w/o blowing out the mountain.

I have a 3 stop soft edge Singh-Ray that I used on the ones from Mt. Hood. What would really help is a Daryl Benson as well.

Single exposure needs dark-dark area, as you state, since most of us don't live in those conditions other way is multiple 20-25 second shots (to get say 30 minutes of combined exposure time) and stack them.
